About the Team

Designing, building, and racing a Formula-style car while developing the engineers and leaders behind it.

Our Mission

Leaders built beyond the classroom.

UConn Formula SAE is dedicated to making leaders who gain an innovative experience beyond what is available in classes and internships. We're a student-run organization that designs, builds, and competes a Formula-style race car every year.

We combine our members' passions for motorsport and engineering while learning to work effectively in a large, fast-moving team environment. The same skills that define a successful professional career.

What Is Formula SAE?

A collegiate competition like no other.

Formula SAE is a collegiate competition in which students are challenged with designing, building, and racing an open wheeled, Formula-style vehicle. The competition isn’t just about who has the fastest car; design, management, and marketability are all assessed as well. From streamlining design and manufacturing processes to cultivating leadership in project management and communication, students involved in UConn’s FSAE program learn to overcome the same challenges that are encountered by professional racing teams.
